clear weather, biennale
The weather has been exceptionally clear these past two days, meaning the temperature has dropped a few more degrees and the sun occasionally shines. So on Friday I went to the Viewing Platform (I'm not sure if that's its official name), not far from the main building of the university, which stands above the Moscow (Moskva) River and looks over Luzhniki stadium to the center of the city. It's supposed to be the best view of the city, but I have to admit I was disappointed at the view because of the smog. Have a look for yourself:
Today I stopped in the Cathedral of Christ the Savio(u)r and then saw part of the Moscow Biennale. It was recommended to me last night by a friend, and then I read about it in the Times this morning (link courtesy of the New York Times Link Generator). What I saw was fun, but I think some of the best may turn out to be at other locations. While the artwork installation labels are in Russian and English, I was surprised at how much of the work they chose also involved English. There was a film installation with Chinese and bad English subtitles, and there was a film playing at unforunately low volume interviewing people in the Crawford/Waco area in Texas.
