back from Scandinavia
Returned from Scandinavia on Saturday. Was both a productive and relaxing trip bothered only by the onset of spring allergies.
Since everyone's just really intereted in the pictures, let's get right to it.
The train hostel. Both this and the Copenhagen hostel were in excellent condition—better than the Montreal and Toronto hostels as I remember them.
Lund near the train station at dusk. Note that the cobblestones for the crosswalk are made of marble instead of gray stone.
A cute little street in Lund near the cathedral. Notice on those find Scandinavian busses driving by in the second shot, with one of those fine, fit Scandinavian couples riding their bicycles. This was not at all an unusual sight. There are large bike racks full of bikes practically everywhere, and people of all ages riding them.
That same street, further down. See? Bike racks.
The view from my window in the hostel where I stayed just outside Copenhagen proper. Note the mountain goats—or whatever they are—lounging about in the closed in area. (Only one is really visible.) Beats me.
View from the front of the hostel.
View of the street where I waited for the bus. Oh, there it comes! I don't think I ever waited more than two minutes for a bus.
The central square, with city hall straight ahead.
A bit of consumerism (especially for you, Joe) strikingly juxtaposed (if I do say so myself) to some activist art. On the left is a statue of a fat man on the shoulders of a gaunt one. On the right, what appears to be a real but dead cow is balanced by four emaciated figures. Both were attracting the attention of passers-by, and there were signs below where you could read all about them (in Danish).
The beautiful people of Copenhagen out for a Friday evening stroll.
More beautiful people enjoying a beer at the pubs to the right, or sitting on the street next to the canal on the left (as behind the guy selling roses), also drinking beer.

Great pictures, Kevin! I'm quite envious of your travels.
